Day Hikes: Blanca Lake

People rating: n/a

Description: Monica writes, "Blanca Lake near Index is a wonderful hike for humans and dogs alike. Not too heavily traveled because it's a bit strenuous, the lake is well worth the trip. My lab mix loved it! The hike is about 8 miles round trip, with a 2900ft gain on the way in and 600ft on the way out." See our links below for more information on this hike. Check out the georgeous photos of the lake, fed by the Columbia Glacier.

Downsides: Steep (okay maybe that's a plus for you exercise hounds), can get muddy

Directions: Near Index about an hour northeast of Seattle. Go east on Hwy 2 to Index. Go north for 15 mi on North Fork Skykomish River road. At 4-way intersection right before road crosses river, go north on Forest Road 63. Trailhead in 2 mi.

Special thanks to Monica and her intrepid explorer Lando for sharing this hike with us!
