Description: Droopy's nose was very, very happy visiting the 37-acre aptly-named Grandview Park, which opened on October 4, 2003. There is an upper level grassy field where you can enjoy stunning views of Mount Rainier (when the weather cooperates). Follow the road down to the lower level and an old soccer field provides a flat area where dogs can race around to their heart's content (the light posts are not operational and will eventually be removed). Next to the hard surfacing are paths winding among more and more grass. Baby strollers were in popular evidence on opening day. Picnic tables and benches provide more places to enjoy the view. Grandview's maintenance is completely funded by its users and SODA. Users of Grandview are encouraged to become members of SODA.
Downsides: Restroom facilities consist of a port-a-potty. Although placed in a nice enclosure built by volunteers, it remains nevertheless what it is. Bring your own water. Water options are being explored.
Directions: From I-5S, take the WA-516 exit, Exit #149 toward Kent/Des Moines. Left onto S. Kent Des Moines Road/WA-516 (you'll go across the highway to the east side of it).
